Singapore – last stop before coming home again 🙊🙈🙉

Now the inevitable truth has to be faced: Our journey is unfortunately coming to an end.

We spent the last two days in Singapore, where it was not only extremely hot but also very humid. And another thing was that Singapore was celebrating their 50th anniversary. We have never seen so many people in one place. It was insanely crowded, especially the public transports which were free for everyone on that day, and you could hardly move.
We still tried to explore Singapore as much as possible under those circumstances, and it actually didn’t go too bad:)

At the moment we are sitting in the lobby of our hotel and are waiting for the taxi that will bring us to the airport.
Even if we already checked out in the morning we were allowed to use the shower of the gym (yes mum and dad Murseli & Stabel we are trying our best to not fall into your arms too stinky, even if I don’t know if that’s possible after 14 hours of flying) before we are hitting the plane from Singapore to Dubai and afterwards from Dubai to Frankfurt and be at home in less than 24 hours!

Bali – Time to Relax 🙏🍉🌴

Until the very end it wasn’t certain if we were able to fly to Bali from Melbourne. Mount Raung was erupting again, which caused flight delays and cancellations because of the ashclouds over Denpasar airport, which could be able to damage the engines of the plane.
A few days before our flight they closed down the whole airport in Denpasar for that reason, and we were already thinking about catching an earlier flight from Bali to Singapore (if we could fly into Bali anyway) to not miss our flight from Singapore to Frankfurt, if the Airport would be closed down again. But in the end we left everything as it was, hoping that the luck we had throughout our whole journey would be with us again in this situation. And it was in both cases! We could fly into Bali with Virgin Australia just as planned and out of Bali to Singapore with just 1 hour delay. We were lucky that we booked the flight from Bali to Singapore with Garuda Indonesia and not with Virgin Australia etc., because Garuda was one of the few airlines that flew out of Bali on that day, whereas most of the other airlines cancelled their flights for the day and also for the following day.

We really enjoyed the 12 days in Bali.
We were relaxing at the private pool of our amazing villa, spoiled ourselves with a few massages and just lived the lazy life after 4 months of backpacking.
Marcus (hi Marcus!) was in Bali with his family at the same time and visited us, once we went to Ubud for a day trip, but the rest of the time we just relaxed and ate tons of watermelon.

Melbourne & Great Ocean Road 🚗🌊

Our last stop in Australia was Melbourne. We lived there for two weeks with Ben, who was also part of our Campervan Crew in the beginning of our journey through Australia.
After a 12 hour bus ride from Sydney to Melbourne he picked us up from the bus station and brought us to our new home for the last two weeks in Australia.

Sydney

We spent one week in Sydney. Our host Joel who’s a dog scent trainer for the Australian army hosted us (we found him through couchsurfing). We got along very well and strengthened our friendship with a game of beer pong:)
We were living in Sutherland, a suburb of Sydney, which is 30 min out of the centre of Sydney.

Surfers Paradise – Byron Bay – Coffs Harbour

A little bit of time has passed but now we are updating our blog again!:)
The last three weeks were full of adventures and of course we don’t want you to miss out.
We chose the hop on hop off bus for the route Brisbane – Sydney because we also wanted to see the smaller towns in between. We planned to see Surfers Paradise, Byron Bay, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Newcastle in two weeks. We were staying in hostels in Surfers Paradise and Byron Bay. For the other destinations we stayed with locals (Couchsurfing), where we met wonderful people who were always trying to show us around and sacrificed their time as much as possible, even if they had to work.

In this post we put the pictures from Surfers Paradise, Byron Bay and Coffs Harbour together. The pictures from Newcastle and Port Macquarie will follow shortly in the next update.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary 🐨

The Koala Sanctuary is located 40 minutes out of Brisbane, where you can feed kangaroos, cuddle with Koalas and get to know some other Australian animals. We had a great day and can definitely recommend the „Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary“!:)

Meanwhile we are travelling between Brisbane and Sydney (Gold coast, Byron Bay, Newcastle).

Road trip with Klaus the Campervan

After two weeks in the campervan, with 356 mosquito bites per cubic centimetre skin and many new memories we update our blog again:)

Our Campervan Klaus was a little troublemaker (dodgy battery, fridge wasn’t working properly, broken middle thing from the bed and some more problems) but apart from that we managed the camperlife pretty good.

Brisbane – first impressions of Australia

Due to some problems with the plane we headed off 30 minutes later than planned. After 4 hours and an ungentle landing we arrived in Brisbane.

We spent the first 2 days in a hostel.
The other 3 days we stayed with Craig who we met through Couchsurfing. He was actually Canadian and lived in a beautiful apartment in Brisbane for 3 months because of work.
In 2 weeks after our Campervan trip we will be back in Brisbane and stay again with him for 2 days.
We spent the last few days in Brisbane in the student flat of Ziad and Valid who are also from Kaiserslautern (like Lena) and are studying for 6 months in Brisbane. They slept on the couch just that we could sleep in their beds. Thank you so much for everything and we wish you the best for your final exams !

The first few days we had to get used to being in a big city again. The last time we saw really tall buildings and many people in one place was 2 months ago in Auckland! But even if Brisbane is a big city it has really nice spots and nature with many beautiful parks and gardens. And it is finally warm again !

Also dann, volle Kraft voraus!:)

We are going to leave Brisbane today to head off with the Campervan for 2 weeks.
The Australian who was climbing out of the window to save our Lonely Planet is coming with us and is going to pick us up with the Campervan shortly.
We are going to drive to Airlie Beach and will stop at the Whitsundays, Fraser Island, Noosa, Rainbow Beach, Hervey Bay and many more.

And off we go !
